李新荣　研究员，博士生导师。1995年在莫斯科国立大学获博士学位。1998年被中科院兰州沙漠研究所晋升为研究员，现为寒旱所研究员(2级)、寒区旱区逆境生理与生态实验室主任、生态与农业研究室主任、中科院沙坡头沙漠研究试验国家站站长、中科院沙漠与沙漠化重点实验室副主任。

　　国家杰出青年基金获得者、人事部“新世纪百千万人才工程”国家级人选、国家重点基础研究发展计划973项目首席科学家、国务院政府津贴获得者、甘肃省先进工作者、甘肃省领军人才、甘肃省欧美学会副会长。

先后在澳大利亚联邦科工组织水土所、美国宾夕法尼亚州立大学、德国柏林工业大学进修和高访。曾获德国Stiftung Alfried Krupp Kolleg的年度高级研究员研究奖在格拉夫斯沃德大学进行合作研究(2009年10 月- 2010年09月)。

    目前是中国地理学会自然地理专业委员会副主任、中国生态学会理事、全国防沙治沙标准化技术委员会委员、中国植物学会植物生态学专业委员会委员、中国草地资源管理委员会常务理事、甘肃省生态学会副理事长和中国地理学会沙漠分会常务理事，联合国荒漠化防治独立专家，以及《中国沙漠》副主编、《植物生态学报》、Journal of Arid Land Research和Science in Cold and Arid Regions等编委。

    长期从事干旱区植被生态学和沙地生态水文学研究，发表论文100余篇，SCI收录70余篇，出版专著2部。目前主持国家杰出青年基金、重点基金、面上基金、中国科学院方向性项目和国际合作等多项课题。

    作为第一获奖人获得国家科技进步二等奖1项、宁夏回族自治区科技进步一等奖1项和甘肃省自然科学一等奖1项。曾获中国科学技术协会“中国科学技术发展基金沙产业贡献奖”、中国沙产业学会“全国防沙治沙先进科技工作者”、首届中科院首届“王宽城西部学者突出贡献奖” 、甘肃省先进工作者、中国沙漠科学优秀中青年奖、中国科学院优秀共产党员和多次中科院兰州分院优秀研究生导师和优秀共产党员的荣誉称号。
